Coastal Commission Meeting Descriptions & Vote Charts
The Coastal Commission meets monthly in coastal communities from Del Norte to San Diego, deliberating on proposed development projects across California's 1,100-mile coastal zone. The California Coastal Act sets the policies and standards that guide those decisions.
Each month, ActCoastal selects the most consequential votes and rates them pro-coast or anti-coast. The charts below record each Commissioner's vote, along with absences and alternates, and a summary of what was at stake. Beyond the votes, each report includes summaries of other notable developments worth of interest to the coastal advocacy community.
The January hearing covered several complex items that prompted in-depth dialogue amongst the Commission.
The December meeting was relatively non-controversial. On Wednesday the Commission unanimously elected new leadership.
This November was the most significant Commission meeting in 2013.
The October Coastal Commission hearing was held in San Diego.
The September hearing was held in Eureka.
