Announcement - October Meeting Report Now Live!
The latest Coastal Commission meeting took place in Imperial Beach on October 11-13. On Wednesday, the Border Region transboundary pollution crisis took center stage and on Thursday we scored a vote chart for seawall repairs in Oceanside.
Border Region transboundary pollution crisis: After a field trip to the Tijuana River Valley, the Commission hosted a panel of expert speakers including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), International Border Water Commission (IBWC) and community organizers. California's Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis was in attendance, bringing the high level of attention the issue deserves. The Commission committed to drafting call-to-action letters that will be voted on at the November hearing.
Oceanside Revetment Approval: During this meeting, the Commission also approved a permit for the repair of a 700-foot-long rock revetment in Oceanside with added public trust protections including annual mean high tide line surveys and public access stairways.
